777 Race / Sportboat
There is much excitement with the new Bobkat Sportboat, which is intended to be launched at the end of the 2006. This racebred rough water catamaran is incorporating a new patented and revolutionary tunnel design to accomodate a single 250 to 300hp four stroke outboard capable of a speed in excess of 80mph. It will be able to carry four to five people and is designed to be used for offshore powerboat racing if the owner decides to compete in the thrills of competition.
SAFETY
- Unsinkable with built-in buoyancy
- Max. Speed can be restricted to 75 mph with props & rev. limiters
- Low vertical centre of gravity provides lateral stability on the 45-degree non-trip chines, spaced 1900mm apart
- High sides angled outwards to control sideways movement in extreme manoeuvres
- Strong construction in modern composite materials
- Impact crumple-zone in bows
- Will bank to the inside in high speed turns
- Will not zigzag in quartering seas
- Recessed handrails, positioned on both side decks
- Adjustable after-plane fitted to transom
- Gel battery mounted in front of wet-well
- Navigation lights with white strobe light - if needed
- Electric and manual bilge pumps
- Reinforced water deflector in front of cockpit or windscreen
- Tow-hook combined with lifting eye at bows
- Storage for anchor, ropes, flares, etc. all accessible from cockpit
SEA KEEPING
Combination of lateral lattice beams and monocoque construction prevents any movement of hull - both torsional and hogging or sagging.
Hull shape developed over past 45 years for maintaining high speed in all sea-states, as regularly encountered at the Cape of Storms, South Africa.
Tunnel is constructed to encourage level flight when cresting large swells, at high speed.
Three Symmetrical bows stop nose-diving in large following seas.
LIFTING
Eye at bow for 6 m x 1 ton strap
2 Eyes at stern for TWO 6 m x 1 ton straps
COMFORT
Contoured nacelle-seat with foot and armrests - for each crew provides full support for vertical and lateral acceleration.
Patented tunnel shapes create a two-phase medium in the tunnel that acts as a shock absorber in rough water.
DIMENSIONS
| O.A.Length | 8.0m |
| O.A.Width | 2.5m |
| O.A.Height | 1.5m of hull |
| Empty weight | 1,080kg |
| Max. Load | 700kg |
| Fuel Capacity | 2 x 80 litre tanks positioned in sponsons |
SPEED
Low Frontal Area of 2,1 m2.
Low Cd for hull shape.
Tunnel with 1,54:1 compression ratio provides lift that reduces the wetted area at a high lift-to-drag-ratio.
Narrow bottoms with minimum area to support the boat at speed, has low attack angles and keelsons.
Four chines provide extra lift in disturbed and confused water conditions.
TRAILER
Guide-rollers at keels and in tunnel at centre and on sides.
Bow support with tie down.
2 tie downs at stern.
4 small wheels on double axle.
NOTE:Above, subject to change after model testing and finalisation.
